Park in the closer North Parking Lot (enter from 24th Street) and go through the Music Room door (opening onto the access drive); or park in the South Parking Lot (enter from Pierce Street at 23rd), then through the main doors and to the right to the Music Room.
Beginning Band 6- 7pm
offers brand-new musicians an opportunity to learn to play and to read music, and seasoned musicians to take up a new instrument they haven't played before. The conductor is Brent Paulson, a professional trumpeter, middle/high school instructor, and college instructor.
Intermediate Band 7 - 7:30pm, 7:30-8pm - "play up" with Concert Band
lets continuing learners improve playing and reading skills. There is also an opportunity to "Play Up," learning music of a higher level to play with the Concert Band to prepare for progress to that band. Brent Paulson is conductor of this ensemble.
Intermediate Jazz Band 6 - 7pm
is an ensemble that will focus on jazz rhythms, improv skills and learning basic jazz pieces.
Jazz Combo 7 - 7:30pm
is a smaller ensemble of accomplished performers playing "popular" music - jazz, swing, and rock - under the leadership of Thomas Blomster, a professional jazz musician.
Concert Band 7:30 - 8:30pm
is the principal ensemble of the MHCB, always improving musical skills while performing high-quality music under professional conductor and percussionist Thomas Blomster.
